Mindfully Artfully Playfully

With Compassion

An integrated Expressive Arts and Mindful approach to well-being helps us uncover ways of safely exploring our emotions, or cope with change or suffering when words alone may not be enough. Both the process and the product are considered equally as restorative tools for (self) communication and healing.

Our relationship will be built in gentle increments, through attentive listening, gentle observation and a clear (yet fluid) accessible framework.

A typical session runs 50 or 80 minutes and may look like this:

Arriving: We begin with a brief grounding exercise.

Verbal Check-In: A time where you share “where you are coming from” and what you may wish to consider in this session.

Bridging: Guidance to the creative space/materials.

Art making: Starting from a modality that might be familiar to you (e.g. drawing); you will be invited to begin the process of making through an attunement of the senses. When the emerging image arrives, you will be supported to respond further, wherever and however your curiosity, and impulses lead you.

Aesthetic analysis: A time of describing the process and the artwork that has arrived. The observation is kept on the surface without interpretation of the image.

Harvesting: moving gently from the creative imaginary state back into everyday life.  We reflect how the art and its making relates to the issue, its clarification or solution.

Closing: A final opportunity for you to share anything that might still be with you and what you will take with you (where you will be going to).
